Is it feasible to treat a 'kiddie pool' with chemicals?  It is an inflatable, vinyl rectangular pool that holds 311 gallons, with no filter.  It is too large to dump frequently, but if left to stand, it develops a film on the bottom and sides, and hard water deposits on the vinyl.

Since there is not a filter, will build-up of chemicals/whatever be a problem?

The water hardness is 320 ppm, and the total alkalinity is 210.  pH is 7.2  Haven't tested anything else.

Suggestions?

I would not bother with balancing the water.  Just put 2 oz of Chlorox in the water once per day.  This should keep the chlorine level at 3PPM or more.
